Mopar Transmission Cables
1. Custom Cable
Convert a 1964 -1965 console shifted Mopar to use a 1966-up transmission!
The kit is based around the B&M race grade cable, and uses the B&M attaching and adjusting hardware.
We used the B&M cable because it's top quality stuff, and if you happen to damage a cable, replacements are available at most speed shops - you won't be stranded waiting for a custom made replacement that nobody stocks!
In the future (date tbd) a double braided stainless cable will appear. We figure that damage to a double braided stainless cable probably means much larger problems than not being able to shift!
Included in the kit (but not shown) are a small bushing that adapts the B&M cable eye to the console shifter, and a light spring for the detent ball in the valve body.
The complete kit runs $150 plus shipping, and will include a set of instructions with illustrations (as soon as we get them done!).
The kit is intended for '64 and '65 Mopar cars with consoles. We have not done anything with the column shifters yet.
The kit would probably work on buttons, but we have not found a good way to make the parking pawl function.... So we cannot recommend or support use on pushbutton cars, (at least yet). We haven't given up, just haven't had the right idea so far! (Anyone have some ideas on how to accomplish this please let us know!)
Conversion transmission mounts are available for mid-'62-'65 B-Bodies as well as '65 C-Bodies. We are still working on the '62-'64 C-Body conversion mount, which should work on the early '62 B-Bodies as well.
2. Stock Cables
NEW! A "Premium" version of these cables is available, now utilizing considerably upgraded construction!
The Premium cables feature a conduit (housing) with an inner core of corrugated stainless that is wound with a copper wire. The core then is furnace brazed, to completely seal the assembly, and then compressed (lengthwise) to give it amazing flexibility, after which a single course of braided stainless is applied. Next the lower ferrules are machined and silver soldered, making a very robust, leak-proof cable. A poly outer jacket is then applied to give the appearance of a stock cable.
The "Premium" is basically a single braided version of the previous dual braided cable!
All the Premium cables now have stainless fittings top and bottom, as well as stainless eyelets and lances on the inner. The entire unit (except for the silver solder) is now stainless.
These cables are engineered with the intention that our customer should never have to buy another transmission cable for their '62 to '65 Mopar, even if they manage to damage the plastic coating!
We suspect Walter P. Chrysler would nod in appreciation of the bullet proof engineering in these Premium cables.
The "Premium" shift cable is $150, and the park cable is $130. The double braided models are $10 more each.
All prices plus shipping.
